“Doggy and Me” Photo Session Special — 2018 Edition

Posted in: All Posts, family-lifestyle

So, back in the summer of 2012, I got my first dog – my own dog.  Her name was Sookie, and I photographed her all the time since she was pretty much my favorite for obvious reasons.

On a few occasions, I set up a camera on a tripod to try and get photos of her and I together, which worked out somewhat okay.  I’m glad I did it.

Unfortunately, about a year later in the summer of 2013, Sookie was hit by a car, and didn’t make it.  She was let out to use the bathroom in the backyard, and within a few minutes had dug out (something she never did) with my sister’s dog.

The driver that hit her didn’t call or use the contact information on her collar.  I’ll never know what actually happened, and I’ve struggled with the guilt ever since. It was truly crushing to me, and I’m sure anyone that’s lost a pet unexpectedly knows the feeling.

A few months after losing Sookie, I decided to foster another dog as a way to heal, and also help dogs without a home. After finding a home for that dog (a sweetheart chow/German Shepherd mix named George Michael that basically looked like a huge, fluffy bear,) I decided it was time to adopt, which led me to adopt a Tamaskan/GSD mix, Lucy. About a year after that, I adopted a smaller dog, Liam. They are both hilarious and endearing in their own unique ways.

If you’re anything like me, your life is full of stories with your pups, and your phone is packed with cute, silly, impromptu photos of them.  I probably have thousands at this point…

The thing is though, while sentimental and certainly cherished, these are images are typically informal.  Shown to someone once or twice and then often forgotten, buried with the thousands of other photos and screenshots on our phones.

Around this time last year, I started thinking about how I wish I had some better photos of Sookie — not just of her, but of me with her too.  I believe that all dog owners deserve to have great pictures with their dogs, but I also know this is not always a feasible expense for many.

It’s because of this that I decided to run a Doggy & Me session special, providing a short session to capture you, your family, and your dog(s), for an affordable price that’s less than a standard session fee.

I ended up doing quite a few of these while running the special and had a blast getting to meet so many pups (and their humans!) during the process. Some of my friends got in on the action too, which I definitely loved.

Now that it’s been a year, I’ve decided to bring back the Doggy & Me sessions again for a limited time (book by 09/22/18).

Shoots are 25 miles within OKC Metro.
