People don’t just randomly appear in our lives.
I believe in lots of strange/unlikely things, like Big Foot and UFOs — but coincidences are not one of them. I believe in purpose and reason.
Let me explain. I met Todd and Luke while shooting for OKC Pride last year. They were with Keith and Eric, two guys I know through shooting for OKC Pride back in 2015. Little did I know about the great experiences ahead of me with Todd and Luke.
Here’s how it happened. On October 6th 2014, same-sex couples were finally allowed to marry nationwide. Fast forward to 2015, when I photographed Love is Love, the first ever, legal mass wedding ceremony, which took place during that summer’s OKC Pride. Seven couples renewed their vows or commitment that day, with Keith and Eric being one of the couples. The following year, Keith and Eric introduced me to Todd and Luke, and I’m sure glad they did.
Which brings us to August 12th 2017 — Todd and Luke’s wedding day. I have to say, these guys know how to throw a party, as you’ll see below. More than anything, Todd and Luke put so much thought and work into making their wedding special for everyone that attended, and it certainly paid off.
The way they genuinely care about those they love was such a rare and wonderful thing to watch unfold. To make things even better, they had a wedding party of 24 people, who traveled from 8 different states to be a part of all this. It was truly one of the most memorable weddings I’ve ever photographed, and I’m honored they chose me to experience it with them.
